Management to the Max!We know from experience when Duty Managers and Supervisors perform well, the whole Club performs well! There is consistency in service delivery, staff morale is high and patrons are happy. Unfortunately, it takes more than practical skills training to build a great team. Many Duty Managers and Supervisors are promoted to their role because they are good at tending bar, housekeeping or front of house. However they may not have any experience in actual management and “being a boss” can be difficult and challenging when you are on a steep learning curve.) This inexperience can also mean that management staff often feel isolated and believe that senior management don’t want to hear their suggestions or would never implement them. Many clubs run skills development programs for Duty Managers and Supervisors that cover the basics like instructing staff. But we know, no matter how good the training, the challenge is to get Duty Managers and Supervisors working as a team, thinking about the Club in general and being proactive in their duties. Oops have developed a program that takes management skills to a whole new level. Rather than a traditional workshop where the trainer talks and participants listen this program gives your team an opportunity to discuss issues specific to their Club and situation. This workshop is designed to give your management staff the skills they need to build a team, maintain or improve morale and assist staff to implement training skills in their workplace. This program also gives senior management a chance to tap into the “eyes and ears” of the Club and one outcome of this program is a report to the senior management team.
Outcomes: At the completion of the program participants will have a clear understanding of the processes and importance of management. They will have developed strategies and tactics for building staff morale whilst improving productivity and performance. Methodology : Learning tools used in the interactive workshops include powerpoint presentations, role playing, team and communication building games and completion of a workbook which includes ongoing self assessment Topics covered in this workshop include:
There are two options, ½ day or full day, but we recommend the full day to maximise the learning outcomes. The fee also includes a pre assessment prior to the workshop to identify key issues for your specific club and a report to senior management on completion that can be incorporated into your strategic planning program (mini Action Plan) Supervisor's workshop The role of the Supervisor is one that requires confidence in one-self to move from being a “worker” to one who leads and manages floor staff, who were once their peers. This is not always an easy task for many Supervisors as they become typically involved in a downward spiral of “doing” and not delegating or overseeing. When dealing with Duty Managers and Senior Management their ability to advance ideas or ask for assistance needs to be encouraged. Unfortunately, failure reinforces the self fulfilling prophecy of a “negative self image” often and other successes rarely change this image. Success and self image are an important credentials in this role. This workshop will look at their personal skills in dealing with staff members, senior management and patrons. It will allow them the opportunity to commence to discover their true potential and start/continue on the path of the people they really want to be, by focusing on their Self Image; mastering their emotions and releasing their full potential benefiting not only themselves but importantly also the Club. We will also, as with the Duty Manager / Senior Management Workshop, cover topics that are described in Management for the Max in relation to the role as Supervisor. |
